dd1 has been playing with her wee friend the past few days and her wee friend now has chickenpox - dd1 is VERY grumpy this morning and just wants to laze on the couch eating rubbish (or rather she asks for thing such as a bowl of pasta, cup of milk etc but only eats a bit)

but she is whinging and whining and wont tell me whats wrong. usually she is bouncing off the walls wanting to go to the park - does anyone think she could be feeling ill?

i read somewhere its usually a cough and runny nose thats the first signs of the pox - but she doesnt have this

TIA everyone x

sounds like it might be the start of it to me. Chickenpox is very infectious, if she has been spending a lot of time with her friend, it is likely she has it. When mine had it I can't really remember a lot of symtoms at all apart from the spots, so I don't think they always get ill with it.

I can do this one as ds1 it at the moment

odds are she'll get a temperature and then the spots will appear

ds1 came out in the blisters over the next 48 hours and had a miserable couple of nights and is now just spotty but chirpy.

The spots come out first on the trunk and neck.

cp takes at least 10 days to come out though, so if her friend only went down with it in the last couple of days it is probably too soon for your dd to come out with it too, unless they both contracted it from another child (say at playgroup) a week or two back.

Now our dd has just gone down with it - on the last day of school too , completely throwing all the end of term party plans into disarray - aargh !!

She actually wasn't well last weekend -complained of ear and tummy ache with a cough - culminating in her throwing up at a friend's house on Sunday. Started spots last night but couldn't really tell until today.

Any developments, Nailpolish ?
