My 3 week old baby has a terrible time with his poo. He's very calm usually and not given to crying unless his dinner's late, but when he needs to do a poo he shrieks and wails and strains until rewarded. I don't know how to help him - he's definitely a bit windy and loves to be burped for hours.

I was going to give him gripe water, will this help?

He's our first, hence we're a bit clueless...

Thanks for your help!

He's breast fed by the way.

We fed ours gripe water and she settled a few mins later and it made pooing so much easier.
Have you tried Infacol (Boots) BEFORE her drink? Good stuff, I tell you.

Oh and congratulations on your LO!!

Thanks dareI he really is edible!

I'm going to get some Infacol and gripe water today, he was straining away again last night the poor little thing. I thought breast-fed babies were less susceptible to wind and colic, but he does have quite a few bottles of expressed milk too.

Thanks for your help,
