Got cardiology appointment on Tuesday after repeated ecgs showed tachycardia and sometimes have chest pain and often dizzy after exercise. Am a frequent passer-outer too.

What are they actually going to do? Ecg was normal apart from being too fast. Letter says appointment will take hours...hours of what??!!

I would guess they will do an ECG, and might even do an exercise ECG - probably not though if they haven't mentioned it because they would have asked you to wear sports gear/trainers. Also maybe a chest X ray and probably an echocardiogram (an ultrasound scan of your heart).

They may well ask for bloods and will also take a detailed history.

They allow lots of time because you may well trot around the hospital to get all those things done. Good luck!

Well they'll probably do another ecg and maybe an echo - scan of your heart? I assume this is your first appointment and they do take a while because the doctor will want to go all through your history with you. They may perhaps do an exercise test - you on a treadmill - but I think the letter should say if that's the case so you can wear comfy shoes. Don't panic though - they will not be knocking you out and poking around in your heart, it should all be minimally invasive. Wear a nice bra and something you can easily take off and on - a top not a drees for example - because I think there will be a fair bit of that Good Luck.

Definetly no mention of exercise thing in letter. GP did mention scan a while ago. Had loads of ECGs, had the 3lead thing on when having op (unrelated to hear) and heart went crazy so they ended up doing 12 lead one. Also had that done on official referral to cardiology from GP (its on profile actually put it up to show someone at the time)

Am used to lying around toppless after all the ECGs Maybe I should use glitter moisturiser or something make their day more interesting? Or nipple tassels??!!

Northernlurker - great minds

Giraffes - I would leave off the glitter and tassles as they might get in the way. Maybe go for a nice tattoo to surprise them with?
