High temp of 39.2

My son of 24mnths has had a high temp all day spiking at 39.2 (was 38.3 early pm). He was up very late this morning but still seemed to be tired. Has been off his food also. Would only drink milk so had 2 bottles (one am, one before bed). He would not take any water or juice. I have given him calpol at around 2 and then some medised at around 6pm. He has been very clingy & lethargic all day also. I have put him down in just his vest with his fan on in his room.

Any suggestions

give him nurofen and keep him stripped off, a fan in the room (not pointing directly at him) will help) - fluids also good

it's not so high a temp you know.

if it doesn't come down with nurofen within 40 minutes seek advice - but as long as it keeps coming down he'll be fine -

Sponge him with some tepid water and let him air dry
Hope he is better soon

have never sponged any of my kids as was advised not to by paediatrician - has that advice come back again now?

Have you got any ice pops in? it gets a bit of fluid in and might help him cool down.
