Colonoscopy - sorry about the question.

I've got to have a colonoscopy next week and have a quick question about the laxative Moviprep, and wondered if anyone had any experience and/ or advice.

I've an afternoon appt, have to take the first dose of Moviprep at 7pm, and it should kick in for the next few hours, apparently. I then have to take another does at 6am, which will have an effect for the next couple of hours. Anyone know how big the effect of the second dose is given I won't have eaten from 6pm the night before. I'll be on my own with DD from 6-8am, and she's just started crawling, so not too keen on sitting on the loo for 2 hours while trying to look after her. I had thought about taking the dose at 8, but just realised I have to take DD to the GP for her 8 month check up at 9am, and don't really want to run out of that to go to the loo, but according to the instructions I should be OK for 9am, if I take it at 6am.

I guess what I'm asking in a very long and convoluted way, is which is least worse, looking after DD for 2 hours having taken laxative, for taking DD for GP appt having taken laxative, but I will have another adult with me to look after DD and if necessary drive me to GP.

I wouldn't plan to be out of the house. I'd move her appointment. It's not vital, and certainly not vital that it's on a certain day.

You will probably be fine but it really would not be fun if you were out and unable to juggle crawling baby and a poo need.

I don't quite follow your second para question. Are you going to have someone around in the afternoon to drive you to hospital and to look after DD then?

I would move the appt

It is better if you stick to the reduced diet suggested while you are still allowed to eat

Hi - done this (such fun!) Stick to all the guidelines - you'll be fine but def stay at home. I remember having to visit the loo every 10 mins or so at the very worst but that is over pretty quickly and then it's every hour or so - you don't need to sit there for a long time either so don't panic. Good luck x

Sorry first message wasn't very clear, I'm on my own with DD until 8am, then her nanny arrives so I can hand over baby care, and which point I guess I'm going to take the (delayed) next dose of laxative and spend the next few hours on the loo with a good book. The plan is that nanny drops me off and picks me up from appt.

I'll just have to move DD's appt, just wasn't keen as I don't seem to be able to get another one next week, and I start back at work the week after, I'm guessing it will go down like a ton of bricks if I take a day off for the appt, but it will work out somehow.

Don't delay your dose
Take it at the time they have told you to
You should be fine to look after the baby

Otherwise you risk going to the appt and then having to redo the whole thing if you are not totally clear by then
