HOMEOPATHY: Has anyone tried PULSATILLA for a childs cough?

My Ds is at the end of a cold. He still has a runny nose and is coughing still quite a bit.

I really dislike giving any medication and use it as a last resort only but I will try natural alternatives that hopefully work more in harmony with the body.

I have been researching 'Pulsatilla' Homeopathic remedy for coughing, especially at night. Has anyone else tried this, did it help?

Can anyone suggest another Homeopathic remedy that may work better?

Thanks for reading.

Best thing for coughs is a mix of hot water, honey and lemon.

All latest research says homeopathy is rubbish...sorry- used to believe/use myself but not any more.

the remedy should be tailored to the symptoms, otherwise it won't work. We often use Hepar Sulph for coughs. Tend to use pulsatilla if he's mucousy / runny nose and a weepy / tearful with it.

Bryonia is probably the most common cough remedy. Mostly it's trial and error.
You'll get a lot of people coming on saying homeopathy is rubbish btw - it's always worked for us

PS not much beats a hot steamy bathroom with some eucalyptus oil to bring the mucous up !

Sorry long post

I hate to say I trust more natural remedies over traditional medicine in most cases. I tend to think modern medicine has its place but it's overused and is causing more problems than its solving. That is just my opinion of course.

I know Homeopathic remedies need to be taken at least 20 minutes after more if possible or they won?t work. also not to touch the tabs. I've been told that eye colour helps in diagnosis, is this contributing factor to suggesting a remedy? If so he has brown green eyes and blond hair

Some one also suggested Aconite 2 every hour for the first 5 doses but then I can't remember how much to give how often after that.

I think it's worth mentioning when he had his cold he was quite clingy, very temperamental, huggy and a bit odd as anyone would be. He also has a severe runny nose green and very gunky and with it a chesty cough. Now he is still a little odd, clear slightly runny nose, dry cough from the back of his throat but constant. Today he has been coughing all day as well as most of the night now. I feel for him as he's not getting much sleep at the moment.

I will wait for your responses until I move forward.

Thanks again for your time.

If you're keen to use Homeopathy, then I would ring the Helios Homeopathic helpline
01892 537254. They usually have homeopathic practicioners available to speak to, 24hrs.

If you give them the desciption you've just written about his current symptoms and personality, they should be able to recommend a remedy. However it may need posting out to you.
FWIW they do also do homeopathic kits - it comes with a little booklet of descriptions. Having a kit negates the need for waiting for remedies and will also enable you to try different remedies immediately. I use mine tons, it works really well on DS - although not on me, other than emotionally !

Although I think the Ainsworths kit is better - more remedies and a better booklet.

Aconite is worth giving right at the start of an illness (scratchy throat) as it can often kick an illness out before it gets a hold.

The other thing I would recommend if you're keen on trying homeopathy is to actually find a homeopath via the society of homeopaths. It's always worth having that relationship in place. I treated DS for eczema, but as a result built up a good relationship with my homeopath, she treats me at the same time and I can call her whenever I need to if DS is ill and I can't find the right remedy.

HTH
