Erratic periods since giving birth

Hi all,

Hope someone else can shed a bit of light on this one for me...

Gave birth to dd on April 4th, and bled until the end of June.

Since then I've had the following "periods":

10 - 15 July
6 - 9 Aug
17 - 22 Aug
29 Aug and still continuing.

It is getting a little bit silly, and with each one I'm getting blood clots (had some fairly large ones this time round).

I have a hospital appt tomorrow to make sure my fibroid has gone back down since the birth so will mention it all then, but any ideas as to what's going on? I'm getting really cheesed off with it.

Ideally I'd like to be ttc again!

If you have had fibroids previously the chances are that these have recurred. These can cause heavy and erratic bleeding

Any bleeding between periods should be investigated further to ascertain the cause; the last two from the 17th August onwards certainly warrant further investigation.

If they are unsure insist on seeing the gynae cons for further evaluation in the gynae dept.

Hi Attila

Thanks for the reply.

I went for a scan yesterday afternoon, and the fibroid that grew in pregnancy hasn't gone down. It's roughly 7x7x7.

To be honest I was very confused afterwards. I didn't really understand the accent of the lady talking to me, she spoke very fast, and seemed to want me to follow a particular course. When she asked my age and I said I'd be 39 soon, she said "well, we'll all catch up with you eventually" !

I got upset during the consult, but she just kept going. My choices were to have non-hormonal pills which wouldn't regulate the cycle (so I didn't see the point), to go on the pill or to have a coil. Well, seeing as I want a baby neither of those were any good.

She told me I will probably have trouble having another baby, and that if I do get pregnant miscarriage is more likely.

I am to go back again in January for another scan where I was told that if the fibroid hasn't changed "you will have treatment, won't you".

I just feel very down, and almost as if that's it and I won't have another.
