I thought it seemed a very grown up cake, but my fussy 3yo has wolfed down half of it.

I think I just put on 2 kg by reading that recipe - "squidgybellied squares" indeed.

Will defintley give that a try as I miss puddings very much on GF/LF diet.

By the way, I didn't have a square tin, so made it in a 25cm round one and it's fine.

Oooh!! I'll try these I think. DS2 is GI and most stuff I have tried is inedible. It's his birthday next week so I may try them instead of a cake.

Hi, I am coeliac and have been on a bit of a mission to hunt down gluten free cakes over the last few years. You can make some bloody lovely ones from ground almonds, eggs and sugar (feed these to my non coeliac relatives and they always scoff them down at a surprising rate!) also, nigella does a Christmas one made out of boiled whole clementines (wtf?) and almonds, sounds odd but tastes delicious, even if boiling the fruit makes your house stink (probably couldn't do that with morning sickness). If anyone wants recipes, please feel free to get in touch, maybe we could start a gluten free mums group!

I do lots of fab cakes for my DH who is coeliac. (it does help that we have our own hens and their eggs are fab for baking!)

All of Nigellas recipes translate very well into GF by just using Doves Farm SR GF flour.

I am particularly fond of the cherry chocolate cupcakes. Too fond in fact

Really CMOT, the number of times I've tried using GF flour as a direct change in a recipe and it as come out bleaurgh!! I've lost count. That's a great tip. Thanks.

mrsgok, a direct exchange probably means that your stuff comes out too dry/leaden? gluten-free starches absorb a far bit more liquid than wheatflour. as a rule of thumb i add a 5th to a 4th extra on first try, and keep increasing extra liquid til it either gets better on repeat bakes, or bin the recipe. it's just one of the things that drives me nuts gluten free baking, but i'm getting there. another thing is that when it comes to bread, it doesn't feel like proper baking anymore. basically you end up with this really wet slop that you don't knead and have to squidge into tins while it adheres manically to your hands. but comes out tasting good.

another fan of dove farm SR flour. works well.

Maybe we should start a thread just dedicated to GF recipes.

Would love to see your cheesy, chicken dippers recipes.

We've just discovered this guy, he was at a local farmers market.

The sausages were absolutly superb, we all loved them. Usually I do the GF sausages for the kids and we have 'proper' sausages

Recipe looks lovely. Unfortunately the only thing that I can't tolerate, that my gluten-free boys can, is chocolate!

Very odd, incidentally. Has been coming on for a few years but way worse since ds was born.

If you want to make something GF that requires proper kneading, then can I recommend and mixes&tsg=Bread Mix&ID=1008&prodinfo=true&prodID=1008&ThisCode=BRF001&showsg=Flours and mixes this. Makes fab little cheesy rolls, and the best gf pizza base.

I'm very much liking the Black Farmer chipolatas. Although since M&S went to doing their cocktail sausages gf all year, I am developing a bit of a thing for them
