Since having DD (2nd child) 5 months ago, my stomach muscles are still separated and it's felt all wobbly and horrible. I thought something as wrong as have been fit and healthy, lost all preg weight except this massive bulging stomach with hard big lump in the middle. Finally went to doctor today who diagnosed a hernia, and said I should have it operated on to correct it. Now very scared! Has anyone experienced this and do you have any tips? I know it's not such a big deal but I've never so much as had my tonsils out!

Hello, I haven't had this but my best friend has. She had the op a year or two ago, and it wsa done via keyhole surgery and healed very, very quickly. She was only in hospital for one night.
You'll need a bit of help afterwards - do you have parents/family who can help around the house etc?
My friend was delighted with the results of her hernia op. Try not to worry (easier said than done, I know) - it is a very common operation.

thanks mummydragon! I know it's common etc, it's just the prospect of actually having it myself fills me with terror! my DH can take time off, unfortunately I'm supposed to be going back to work 1st Oct but it might have to be delayed a bit..

I've not had this but there have been a couple of other posters who've talked about this recently. If you search for their posts and then bump them you might be able to get their attention.

hi there,

I have a thread ( or did ) it's not been active for a while -like a week or two on diastasis recti ( with hernia).

it sounds like you have a mild version of what I have. It has been very supportive but I'm not sure exactly what op you are having so have a look and I hope it helps.

I don;t know how to link the thread but it's under my nickname and if you look up diastassi recti you should find it.

Hope that helps

I haven't but my FIL just did, and he is a lot older than you, and he was fine, just a bit bruised feeling for a week!
