Yes - its a nuisance isn't it! As I understand it it is when the gunk fron the irritated sinuses and back of the nose goes down into your throat. I was given a steroidal nasal spray too and it helped. The disavantage was that eventually I got nose bleeds so had to change to a weaker one ( chromoglycate) ( but then I am awkward like that!)I think the idea is that if the spray reduces the inflammation of the membranes they can do a better job of sorting themselves out! Personally I use steam inhallation ( my excuse for a warm bath each morning) and sniff up saline to clear it all out too.

Yes I get gunk in my throat that affects my voice too I suppose all that dripping upsets the troat too. The spray takes a while (few days)to work. Go back to the GP if it doesnt help in a few days.

For me I think there is a seasonal element so it returns from time to time.

I am not a medical person but I think post nasal drip refers to the sympton of gunk dripping down into the throat rather than the underlying cause. So I guess coughing is a separate sympton. However they always go together for me too! I suppose the membrane lining the respiratory tract from nose to lung is continous so maybe if one bit is over sensitive and a bit gunky the rest will be too. But I am just guessing! Must admit it worried me for a while ( because I fretted the GP had not understood) but now I am used to it and just treat it as a nuisance when it recurrs. I did a little search at the time on postnasal drip and was reassured my GP was treating me in the most up to date way ie treat with nasal spray rather than search for a cause.
Of course go back to your GP if you see no improvement!
Hope it works for you.

im not coughing up gunk all the time, in morning a little along with a blocked nostral , yesterday was yellow/green bit to, but today not to much and cloudy , i just feel it in my throat when i swallow and then clear my throat by coughing up cloudy clear saliva i think ? i will keep on with the spray she gave me .
when i did see her i did ask if could be anything els like throat C yikes ....cos googled and frightened the life out of myself , but she had a look and felt and said very unlikely, and diagnosed PND type thing , i have looked it up and does say not always a drip down from noise to throat sometimes feeling of lump in throat and pritty much the symptoms i have , i just worry so maybe making things worse also .another symptom of anxiety to ....
i will go back to docs if no change in week or so . just wanted to know if anyone els had similar as this may give me some more reassurance ...thanks
