What are these HONK balls falling out of my throat???

IFishWife · 06/08/2009 21:38

They are DISGUSTING.

They smell like death...worse than death.

Worse still they fall out during the big O!

I can't exactly spit at that moment now can I?

They also fall out when I yawn

Or, when I hock a lugey

Am I some kind of human/frog hybrid - what is going on in my membranes???????

Answers on a postcard please.

Honk balls?

Lugey?

I don't know what you're talking about. Have I led a sheltered life?

Oh Lord...I just don't know what else to call them!

Little green balls of yuckness stuck at the top of ones throat???

Lugey (phlegm, roughly speaking).

Have I TMI'd you out yet? (apologies)

You might have tooth decay or a throat infection.

My MIL had little balls of stuff coming out of her mouth and she said they smelt like rotten meat turned out to be a rotten tooth.

Think your best bet is GP.

They are bogies dear.

Stop eating them and wash your mouth out!

IFishWife · 06/08/2009 21:56

Ooh er, gross on toast.

No, def not bogies..bogies would be a positive relief from these monsters.

Yes, they are rotting, but they are coming from nowhere near my teeth.

Near where my nose tubes hit my throat.

They are most uncomfortable whilst lodged there.

Could they be trapped food?

I used to get those when I was little from my tonsils they were so rotten they disintegrated when I had them removed.

IFishWife · 06/08/2009 22:00

No, no, not an infection.

I know this is slightly by stealth but I have had this on and off for......over 10 years.

Sometimes I have bouts of a couple of years with nothing...then suddenly they return.

I didn't ever know that there is a medical term for tonsil stones! My tonsils are yak and I wish they'd take them out as they are always huge and manky. When I was young I could poke out the ball of ick with my tongue

Hi IFishWife,
I used to suffer exactly the same problem!!!.
Believe it or not it is food that is getting trapped in your tonsils. This happened to me lots of times and it was grotty. Went to the doctor who referred me to ENT and they confirmed just that. My tonsils were that large and they also have folds and holes that food gets trapped inside. When it then becomes full it just comes out in a ball and yup smells like it should be coming out of the other end!!!!
Have since had tonsils out and never had problem again!!
Hope that helps
Stefanie

Oh bless you BaseW...so I have to pluck up courage to see GP now...how tiresome.

But hey, tonsils out means a few days in bed and some lie ins, right?

I have this they are small, about half the size of a grain of rice. they stink.

I have tonsil problems and the back of my nose / throat is sore and red... worth going to see GP?

Report
fatzak · 06/08/2009 22:30

Oh but they won't take mine out [wails]

Have seen a few ENT people and because I don't really get infections (even though they are huge and holey) they are staying put.

I am an allergic type of person too IFishWife - wonder if it is linked.
