Good article here

Apparently no such thing as detox in terms of diet because the body does its own job of clearing out, it is all a big scary marketing ploy.

Still, no harm in improving your diet generally, eating plenty of fruit/veg, cutting back on convenience food, alcohol etc etc.

Detox diets are a complete myth.

Just eat lean meat, fish, poultry, beans, pulses and lentils.

Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Brown rice, pasta and potatoes in their skins.

J9 I've not actually done it for more than a couple of days (actually one day, and inbetween I had some nuts when I was feeling hungry!! so I wimped out bigtime!) but I did feel 'cleansed' somewhat after just a day so I figured after longer its going to really detox. I can't recommend enough a book I read by Allen Carr (not the comedian - the no smoking guru) this one Its not detoxing its more about re-thinking how we eat...brilliant.

Milk thistle is a great detox supplement, cleanses the liver after 'over doing it'

Just stopping alcohol, fatty foods and processed foods, drinking lots of water and eating loads of fruit, vegetables and pulses and a little lean protein and small amounts of carbohydrate will put less pressure on your digestive system and make you feel more comfortable and enable you to get a better night's sleep.
