Please can anyone with dental knowledge advise me?

Hi,

I had a strange little patch on my lower gum which appeared a couple of weeks ago, a bit yukky, with a dark bit in it, which made me go but gradually it got darker and a couple of days ago, a little piece of amalgam appeared at the surface and out it came. I presume it got embedded when he was drilling an old filling the other week.

Anyway, I'm not having any real pain from this thing and never did, but the patch of yucky stuff hasn't gone. Do you think this is just a reaction to the metal, and will go away, or maybe there is something else I need to do?
