How will my mum feel after her first dose of Herceptin?

We are wondering how likely she is to be able to do a one hour train ride 2 days after her first dose of herceptin.

She currently has horrible rib pain and can't travel but we're hoping that the radiation she has next week will solve that - they say it should stop the pain.

Does anyone have any experience of this at all?

Hi there,I work on an oncology unit and we give Herceptin regularly. It doesn't generally have the same side effects as actual chemotherapy treatments so your mum should feel absolutely fine! There are no pre or post medications to take as the side effects are mainly as the drug is being administered i.e. anaphylaxis type reaction potentially, but the nurses will automatically have anti reaction type medication prescribed if required so don't worry! Mum should be fine! Good luck and hope she feels better after her radium!

Thank you so much for your replies.

She is currently in quite a lot of pain and keeps dozing throughout the day. The date in question is 2 weeks away (our son's blessing) and so we're wondering what the chances of her actually feeling well enough to travel are - what do you think? Even if the herceptin doesn't make her worse. The radium is on wednesday and she's been on the new hormone drugs for 3 weeks now and I understand that they can make her tired for 4-6 weeks until her body gets used to them.
