Does this sound like a trapped nerve in my wrist?

I've had pain on and off in my wrist since I was a teenager, and at the moment it's fairly bad. A physio therapist I saw a while ago suggested that it's a trapped nerve.

The pain is worse at night and I find my hands go numb fairly easily in certain positions while sleeping. But it's the pain that is most annoying and I'm having difficulty doing those fiddly little things such as doing up seat belts, buttons, zips, and I do seem to be dropping things more then usual. It can be very suddenly painful. It's mostly in my wrist.

I was wondering if it's carpel tunnel syndrome, but my thumb itself seems ok, it's more the middle fingers that are effected.

Any ideas? Any simple cures?

It seems to be my middle three fingers, the back of my hand and wrist. It's difficult doing things like cutting a slice of toast. I just don't seem to have any strength in the hand.

Ask your GP for a referral to an Orthopaedic Hand clinic (or even a Neurologist for nerves). They can arrange a scan to confirm an entrapment.

Just been to my GP, she's diagnosed tennis elbow, even though it's not my elbow that hurts and I don't play tennis.

She's given me medicine and a physio referral.

Good! It's amazing how you get "referred" pain no-where near the problem site.

I've got a Neurology appt on Monday so hoping will get similar result.
