Decaffeinated coffee contains minimal amounts of caffeine and will therefore also have no greater effect on fluid loss than water.

I find decaf coffee still gives me that caffeine buzz annoyingly - I stopped drinking coffee because it was affecting my sleep and now I find that I'm so sensitive to the caffeine that I can't even manage the decaf stuff.

Nice cup of herbal tea - that's what you need (even though I find most of them taste very much like warm tasteless water)!

actually, I should say the one tea that I find is delicious and is caffeine free is Rooibos tea (or redbush tea). I find most of the other herbal ones pretty nasty.

that's a great website MN, thanks. assuming its all true, it disproves pretty much everything i thought about coffee.

foxinsocks - i drink green-tea quite a bit as well but some days i prefer a heavier drink like coffee. i'm not keen on regular tea and i'm not big on hot fruity drinks (except honey and lemon which i also drink quite a bit of now in the ongoing search for substitutes to reg coffee)

I love a good bit of honey and lemon especially when I have a cold. I actually found I had withdrawal like symptoms when I gave up coffee - god knows how much of it I must have been drinking to feel that way!

I think Decaf coffee is good to drink though it's not 100% free of caffeine. You can read about the benefits of decaf coffee here: thehomemakersjournal.com/best-decaf-coffee/
