Bleeding after c-section

OK here we go.. I'm new here so HI to everyone.

8 months ago I had an emergency C-section, there after I bled for 3 months straight with an occasional day or two spare in between where I would think it had finally stopped. During this time I had no pain what so ever. I had an ultrasound and it was all normal so the doctor put it down to a hormonal thing and put me onto the pill to try and regulate my periods again.

that was going well for a while then I skipped a pill by accident and started bleeding whilst still taking the pill and me thinking like before I had my daughter that if I kept taking the pill it'd go away and 2 weeks later I was still bleeding so had to stop the pill to let my period go where I experienced normal period pains, started the pill again a week later and everything seemed fine.

2 months later I was getting into the shower (still on and taking the pill) to find a discolouration in my underwear, so putting on a panty liner I was bleeding old blood (dark brown) which then by the next day had progressed to fresh blood so stopping the pill again to have my period I experienced no pain except for 1 day which was slight subtle sharp pains and one week later after stopping the pill my period went away and I thought I'm going to see what happens without taking the pill (because quite frankly I don't see why I should HAVE to be on the pill if I choose not to be) and 2 days later I started bleeding again, had another ultrasound which was 'normal' again and I've been spotting ever since which has been just over a week now, but I've still been getting on and off sharp pains and what feels to be pressure when I sit mainly around the c-section scar. The DR is still claiming it's hormonal but you'd think after 8 months that it'd have settled wouldn't you?

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have suggestions or know what it might be? Thanks everyone!

I would push for a second opionion if only to settle your own mind. It does seem really odd. I bled dr 2.5 months after my section now I go 18 days between periods ok one side then 35 days on the other. I had my daughter 2 years ago and had been of the pill for a year before I conceived. Before I was pregnant I was regular almost to the hour. Dr says it's normal.

Will he refer you to on?

Are you seeing a specialist, or just your GP?

I'm just seeing a GP who wouldn't send me to see a gyno because they believed I'd be wasting my time, so I went and saw another doctor who has done a swab and given me antibiotics because they believe I might have an infection, so taking those and now just have to wait and see how it goes

Take the antibiotics for now, but assuming that doesn't fix things you NEED to get a referral. If it is hormonal and your hormones are still doing this eight months after birth then you should see an endocrinologist, and if it isn't hormonal then you should see a gyno. If your GP thinks the gyno would be a waste of time then he/she should be giving you the endocrrinologist referral.

What's an endocrinologist? I just find it weird that after so many months that the pain has only just started now, makes me wonder if this whole time it's been an infection or hormonal or what! Hoping it doesn't affect future decisions..

Endocrinologists specialise in hormones and associated bits of the endocrine system.

Alright thanks, I'll let you know how things go with the antibiotics when they show some kind of sign that they are working.. Thanks for all your help, it's much appreciated!

Seems they are doing something, the bleeding has seemed to stop although I'm due for my 'period' shortly. And the pain has subsided, so hopefully once I'm off the antibiotics things will be back to normal. Thanks again for all you're help.
