Broken toe?

I think I broke my toe earlier today, have been to A and E but it is packed and they advised me to come home, strap it and take painkillers and come back in the morning. Would you bother? Will they do anything for a broken toe? I caught it running for the phone and it was stuck out at ninety degrees from my foot, it is swollen and throbing

There isn't a lot that is done for a broken toe ... my Dh broke his, and when he went to a&E, they took an X-ray to confirm the break and then just strapped the toe up and advised him to take some OTC painkillers...

The toe took about 6 weeks to heal..

Did they not x-ray it? Keep it elevated, this should help any swelling go down. Take some painkillers, if it does numb/pale then go back.

SOunds really painful

I'm pretty sure I broke my little toe a few weeks ago by dropping the fridge on it It hurt like buggery and tbh the thing that surprised me most of all was how much it bled, my floor looked like a slaughterhouse I mentioned it to the GP when I was there last week and she said that all I could do was keep the wound clean, there's nothing they could do about the break. It feels alright now but it I knock it against something I can feel the colour drain from my face- it really is a strange kind of pain.
