Oh my go i can't believe how stupid i have been i put a used Tampax applicator in my bathroom bin this morning as i was in a rush and meant to empty the bin out as soon as i got back in but............. i bloody well forgot and i have just found my 12mth old DD sucking it i am now having a hysterical fit thinking that she is going to be poisoned or something terrible will happen. Can anyone tell me if there is real need for concern as i can't speak to my GP until 6.00pm

Thanks for any advise. And yes i know i am an absolutle idiot for leaving it in the bin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's just blood, though, isn't it. And possibly a bit of discharge I suppose. It's only a year since you pushed her out of your vagina, I don't see what harm it can do.

She'll be fine. She came out through that way, it wont harm her.

I would not worry at all, gross but no harm, different if it was someone elses.

Don't phone GP, u will forever be known as the tampon lady and they will all snigger everytime you make an appointment.

She will be fine but if you want peace of mind I would call NHS direct.

An uber feminist friend of mine tried it once. Apparently you're not a true feminist till you have. So your daughter is a precocious feminist!

I'm sure she'll manage worse in future - my DD regularly comes out of the bathroom brandishing the toilet brush above her head. Far more likely to make her ill I'm sure, even if marginally less gross as I've never seen her actually sucking it!

cuppachar · 11/06/2009 16:08

No you don't need to call NHS Direct, but if you do call them they'll just reassure you like everyone here - I think that's what nappyaddict meant.

gosh I've never emptied the bathroom bin daily, either before or after DD... maybe that's really gross but I've never really thought about it. I really don't think you need to be blaming yourself - it's not as if she came to any harm.

Just imagine yourself telling this story to your DD when she's a teenager

I initially read that as 12 YEAR old DD and was rather concerned!

Im sure she will be fine - she came out that way and well...many men would get closer (not literally to you lol). Im sure there are worse things that she will end up eating too.

On a positive you will probably be really vigilant now (not accusing you of not being - I would never remember to empty bin regularly) so probably have avoided her drinking bleach or something

sweetbean · 12/06/2009 15:51

I have already had her sucking on a sponge covered in bleach that i us in the bathroom !!!! She is a total NIGHTMARE and will eat everything and ANYTHING that she comes in to contact with !!!!!!!!!!!! im dreading the day that she find Dog poo and eats that DD1 was never bother and hardly ever put stuff in her mouth but DD2 is horrendous!! Any ideas when they start to grow out of it ?? xx

Anyone else remember Germaine Greer in the 70s telling women to taste their own menstrual blood?

Maybe Sweetbean's dd is just an early feminist.
