PLEASE can I have advice or reassurance that my leg looks normal, cos I am fretting

look bad, still bleeding, pics on profile (but only look if you are not overly squeamish cos they doo look nasty IMVHO).

is this normal looking is what I am asking, as DH is going green when I ask, and I am a big wuss who thinks my leg is gonna drop off at any given moment!

Actually it looks pretty good. The bruising is coming out, as long as it doesn't feel hot it looks like it's healing.

had a mole cut out on wedsnesday as the consultant had me in for the first appointment, took a look, and said it had to be removed, TODAY

it hurts

tis not hot tho, altho very itchy. which I know is a good sign........just looks swollen and not sure if that is normal considering two days ago it looked better.

Yes it's very normal to have a lot of swelling on day three (day one is the day you have the surgery). I had several removed. Within about seven days it abates. It's well worth taking some ibuprofen.

Mine were melanomas but they were all caught in time.

Sorry that wasn't very clear - day three it starts to swell and bruise, day seven it abates.

Oh and if it gets so itchy you are tempted to scratch, take an antihistamine!

for you, altho very glad all were removed successfully. am hoping tis the same for me, altho the consultant seemed very confident that all would be okay, he just wanted to take fast action to ensure all would be ok IYGWIM.

am of ibruphen, and co-codomol too as it was pretty deep into the muscle and walking is very achy.

am on strong antihistamines already (due to my allergies), and the itching was still unbearable.

tisn;t so bad today........maybe the coolness in the air is helping.

i had 2 dodgy lumps removed from my leg about 6 weeks ago and the 2nd and 3rd days i was in agony and one in particular was very itchy.I had mild salt and tea tree baths and it was ok within a week.HTH

can I bath it.........am desperate for a bath (have had a light shower only) becuase the surgeon said no baths until the stitches were removed.

I was shower only for 3 days and had a bath after that and they gave me one extra dressing which I did.One of them looks fine now practically invisible but the other one is still a bit 'there' iykwim and i think it needs re done!

In terms of scars, it depends entirely on how you scar, I don't have keloid scars but I do have raised ones - the one in the centre of my back looks like I've been stabbed in the back - even now some 18 years later. The ones on my hand and arm are much better, just pink bits. You wouldn't notice unless I pointed them out.

BTW the reason your consultant would have done it there and then is if he put you on a waiting list and you waited up to 18 weeks to get it done, you could have been at risk. They do try and do it if they can there and then - it doesn't necessarily mean the worst.

I am going next week Mine were done there and then too which was great service I think!
They came back as very early viral lesions too so no worries thank goodness

yes it looks normal.. bruising is coming out..

keep an eye out for any dodgey oozing, funny smells, high temp and heat from the wound..

on the pic it does look normal.. also the scar still looks pretty straight

mine was under wraps for about a week IIRC. i had extra dressings from dh stash. they were waterproof ones so i could shower.

WMMC, I had to get completely undressed for the man to have a good look, chart and measure my moles. he said that if something does show up then they will get me checked regularly......so on a wait and see as to the pics I guess.

am glad he took quick action in a way.......I fret dreadfully so would have been a nightmare for DH with the planning and spiralling on the run up to it being done. I am now just fretting after instead!

I am not a great healer, and do bruise bad, but scarring is generally ok once the redness fades. was recommended bio-oil by BCNS the other day, and the surgeon said vasaline, but not sure when to start that - now or once the stitches are out??

i just keep an eye on mine. though my gp told me there was no need but then he doesnt know how badly i got burnt as a child

BCNS, is dips down quite bad in the middle, where the mole was, but yes, still straight. tis the fresh bleeding again a bit earlier that freaked me, and the swollen look.

that's what we were told to use on ds2 cheek ( 4 stitches) it's healed up great and considering it's on his face you have to look really carefully to see it

well, not down to naked, but down to knickers........I have a couple moles under my boobs tho that are hidden by bra straps.

misdee, I got sent to the dermatology dept at a nearby hospital. I got badly burnt too as a child, and as I am very fair with lots of freckles, am in the 'high rick' type zone.
