Vitamin K research

I have been asked by staff at a local hospital to "test the water" about vitamin K and how it is administered. The hospital in question administers vitamin K orally and then follow-ups are done by community staff at 6 and 28 days when necessary, also orally. However, NICE guidelines are that it should be administered intra-muscularly by injection in the thigh. Staff at the hospital have asked how mothers would respond to a change from oral to injections. If anyone could give me feedback on this I'd be most grateful. Thanks.

I didn't give it to either of mine but I think if I had I would have preferred it to have been oral.

both dd and ds got the injection - it means no follow up doses as it is over and done with just after birth.

Ours both had it orally. first child health visitor did it. 2nd time had to do the second lot ourselves. Bit of a faf taking the prescription to chemist and it came in a glass vial thing that you have to snap the top off that I wasn't expecting. Health visitor said they prefer injection as some people wouldn't get round to doing the second dose and it can dribble out of mouth if given that way.
