If you have a painful bought of it go to A&E, you might be there a while but they have to investigate it.

Report
candyfluff · 29/05/2009 13:55

candyfluff, I have had that before, too. Even got my heart checked (I do have mitral valve prolapse - thought that might be it). Drs also told me anxiety.

so even when im relaxed its happening -what is all that about ?
they wont do any tests ,they just keep fobbing me off as a pain in the arse

Have you thought of seeing an osteopath? I have problems with my upper back and often it radiates round and forwards causing pain on and under my ribs. It can be really painful. Sometimes I feel it restricts my breathing but a session with the osteo always straightens me out.

I think what disenchanted means that if you want answers you need to go to casualty even if you dont think it is bad enough to warrant it
they will xray you if you say you are suffering from chest pains
or you could just pay private and go to a specialist

candyfluff..read my thread about liver tests and right rib ache!
I also have same symptoms. I also get ache in left boob and right shoulder. Never bad enough for A&E. But annoying and uncomfortable.
I saw you had raised liver eynemzes(SP!) as well. Plus you thought you had reoccurring rib thingy..soz...can't spell. Thats what I thought my was at first
I'm too chicken to go to doctors because the liver test freaked me out(read my thread as to why)
Everone has told me gallstones..still scared to go.
But your symptoms sound exactly the same as mine.
I think because we are worried what it is the anxiety makes it alot worse. Me too...even when relaxing and feel totally chilled out get the aches. Admittly not stabbing pains as you describe, but sometimes bit more than uncomfortable.
Due to anxiety last year and palpitations I had ECG and 24hr heart monitor on so know it's not that.Hardly ever get palps now.
I did read gallstones can cause pain in right shoudlder and left breast...I thought only in an attack though..hence why I ruled out and have obessed it's all down to me drinking too much over a year ago!!!
I am such a wimp!!!

Any other symptoms you'd like to share? Why did you have test in first place? Cos of rib pain?

'they wont do any tests ,they just keep fobbing me off as a pain in the arse'

that si why you need to go to hospital and say you are experiencing chest pains

I've had a trapped nerve give me the most wierd pain so I would see an osteopath or chiropractor and if that doesn't help then yes demand a referral or go to A&E

been sore the last few days really aching pains around my ribs at the sides and in the middle ,been taking ibuprofen for it .
went for my follow up blood test today for the liver enzymes check so will let you know what the results show up.
have made an appointment for the gp to push for more tests or something
i know its not anxiety ,its not normal to pains in your chest now is it ,even when im relaxed.
if anyone else went in with chest pains they wopuld be taken seriously but not me
im gonna be strong and push for more tests

I visited the gp recently for pain in my chest. I only asked him if it sounded like indigestion and he gave me a look like this .

He said "are you telling me you have had chest pain? Because if you are, then I legally have to send you for an ECG. I do think it's only indigestion, but because you said the words 'chest pain' you will have to have a test."

I said "yes" I have had pain in my chest, and was duly sent for an ECG with the nurse a few days later.

This was normal - it was indigestion.

So it would appear you should have had an ECG at the very least.

You will need to remove your bra, but can leave your t shirt on.

I had a chest x ray for this, was clear. My GP thinks it is anxiety too.
