for the past 2 months or so i have pain like an aching pain in/under my ribs with intermittant satbbing pains on either side of my chest, can sometimes feel like burning
been to the gp many times and they keep telling me its anxiety
the thing is even when im relaxed and chilling out i still have these pains
the gp see's anxiety on my notes and fobs me off
what if it is something else?
its not normal to have these pains is it ?

If you have a painful bought of it go to A&E, you might be there a while but they have to investigate it.

candyfluff Fri 29-May-09 13:55:08

it never gets bad enough that i would go to a&e
anyone else?

Disenchanted3 Fri 29-May-09 13:56:29

hmm

candyfluff Fri 29-May-09 14:02:52

sorry?

Geocentric Fri 29-May-09 14:09:31

candyfluff, I have had that before, too. Even got my heart checked (I do have mitral valve prolapse - thought that might be it). Drs also told me anxiety.

candyfluff Fri 29-May-09 14:15:11

so even when im relaxed its happening -what is all that about ?
they wont do any tests ,they just keep fobbing me off as a pain in the arse

Have you thought of seeing an osteopath? I have problems with my upper back and often it radiates round and forwards causing pain on and under my ribs. It can be really painful. Sometimes I feel it restricts my breathing but a session with the osteo always straightens me out.

I think what disenchanted means that if you want answers you need to go to casualty even if you dont think it is bad enough to warrant it
they will xray you if you say you are suffering from chest pains
or you could just pay private and go to a specialist

candyfluff..read my thread about liver tests and right rib ache!
I also have same symptoms. I also get ache in left boob and right shoulder. Never bad enough for A&E. But annoying and uncomfortable.
I saw you had raised liver eynemzes(SP!) as well. Plus you thought you had reoccurring rib thingy..soz...can't spell. Thats what I thought my was at first
I'm too chicken to go to doctors because the liver test freaked me out(read my thread as to why)
Everone has told me gallstones..still scared to go.
But your symptoms sound exactly the same as mine.
I think because we are worried what it is the anxiety makes it alot worse. Me too...even when relaxing and feel totally chilled out get the aches. Admittly not stabbing pains as you describe, but sometimes bit more than uncomfortable.
Due to anxiety last year and palpitations I had ECG and 24hr heart monitor on so know it's not that.Hardly ever get palps now.
I did read gallstones can cause pain in right shoudlder and left breast...I thought only in an attack though..hence why I ruled out and have obessed it's all down to me drinking too much over a year ago!!!
I am such a wimp!!!

Any other symptoms you'd like to share? Why did you have test in first place? Cos of rib pain?

bigchris Fri 29-May-09 14:22:52

'they wont do any tests ,they just keep fobbing me off as a pain in the arse'

that si why you need to go to hospital and say you are experiencing chest pains

Disenchanted3 Fri 29-May-09 20:43:40

Yes thats what I meant.

CarGirl Fri 29-May-09 20:48:03

I've had a trapped nerve give me the most wierd pain so I would see an osteopath or chiropractor and if that doesn't help then yes demand a referral or go to A&E

candyfluff Fri 29-May-09 21:03:52

candyfluff Fri 05-Jun-09 19:39:16

been sore the last few days really aching pains around my ribs at the sides and in the middle ,been taking ibuprofen for it .
went for my follow up blood test today for the liver enzymes check so will let you know what the results show up.
have made an appointment for the gp to push for more tests or something
i know its not anxiety ,its not normal to pains in your chest now is it ,even when im relaxed.
if anyone else went in with chest pains they wopuld be taken seriously but not me
im gonna be strong and push for more tests

girlandboy Fri 05-Jun-09 19:48:47

I visited the gp recently for pain in my chest. I only asked him if it sounded like indigestion and he gave me a look like this hmm.

He said "are you telling me you have had chest pain? Because if you are, then I legally have to send you for an ECG. I do think it's only indigestion, but because you said the words 'chest pain' you will have to have a test."

I said "yes" I have had pain in my chest, and was duly sent for an ECG with the nurse a few days later.

This was normal - it was indigestion.

So it would appear you should have had an ECG at the very least.

candyfluff Fri 05-Jun-09 20:51:02

they just see me as a whinger im not ,i have anxiety and that does not give physcial pain that you have to take pain killers for does it ?

candyfluff Tue 09-Jun-09 12:05:24

updating
i have been to gp today and told her whats being going on -took dh with me
she has given me n appointment tomorrow for a chest x ray
will take 2 weeks for results to come back though
waiting for my liver test results
i could tell she wasnt concerned and she did say maybe its just 'one of those things'

candyfluff Tue 09-Jun-09 14:14:56

do i have to be topless for the xray ?

TBCoalman Tue 09-Jun-09 14:22:15

You will need to remove your bra, but can leave your t shirt on.

I had a chest x ray for this, was clear. My GP thinks it is anxiety too.

worrywart10 Wed 10-Jun-09 15:32:57

How did your Xray go Candyfluff?

candyfluff Wed 10-Jun-09 18:38:30

went for x ray today and she said to phone for results in ten days
they still cant find my liver funtion test results yet
gonna try again tomorrow
thankyou for checking in with me
