Booster vax - do I tell dd what's going to happen?

I have had a letter asking me to take my dd (not quite 4) for her pre-school boosters. I'm not sure whether I ought to tell her what to expect and prepare her for it, or just take her and not tell her what's going to happen. I'm a bit worried that if I tell her that it will hurt, she'll get herself wound up and frightened of going - but if I lie I'll be found out soon enough and she won't trust me again!

What have you done to prepare your child for their boosters?

I didn't tell them in advance that they were having boosters, I told them when we were in the surgery - otherwise I wouldn't have got them to walk through the door! I told them that it would pinch a bit, but only for a second and then I took them to Woolies for a treat! They were more upset at the thought of the needle, but didn't even cry when the injection happened! HTH

I would just tell her that she is going to have an injection. Don't mention anything about it hurting.
TBH I remember having mine done and the Dr said he would do a practice one first with the lid on the needle, only it wasn't really a lid LOL
So, I had them and it didn't even hurt, I didn't believe him that he had done it!
And I got a treat for being a good girl :D

She's just one of those very inquisitive children, and I just know she's going to ask me what will happen and how it will feel.

My little one has just had it done, I didnt tell him what he was in for. He would have been ok but the nurse kindly told him exactly what was going to happen before she did it and that it might swell up afterwards and might hurt. If she had just done it he wouldnt have been bothered im sure. I did the treat afterwards but he wasnt impressed. Soon forgot about it but im not sure how easy it will be to make him go back into the nurses room! Good luck.
