How long does it take to get a consultant's appointment?

under NHS depends on where you are in the country, and what sort of consultant it is (ie. how busy they are), and also, how bad/sick/urgent your need is

if you go private, usually a couple of weeks at most

depends. took us 3 months for a paed appointment.

I wanted to see a consultant last Jan 2004. The NHS appointment came through for end April 2004. I managed to see him privately the following week. By the end of April when I would have seen him under the NHS, everything I needed doing was done. This was in London by the way-sure there are variances around the country.
