Worst dose of IBS in many a year

Goodness me - not sure I can cope - I need lots of pain killers

Please can I have some sympathy - as I seem to have been ill for months & months

OhYouBadBadKitten Mon 23-Feb-09 22:19:56

you are having an awful run of it. Thats the problem really - once one thing goes wrong it just seems to cascade.

KatyMac Mon 23-Feb-09 22:29:44

I do agree

I am going to take some more co-codamol to go to sleep with

Then I won't be able to have any more until 2:30 - Boy do I hope I go to sleep

Last time it was this bad it was early Feb 2000 - I remember it vividly

Littlefish Mon 23-Feb-09 22:32:30

Poor you KM.

Mine is bad at the moment too.

Have changed diet to include more fruit and veg, but it's really messing my digestion up.

KatyMac Mon 23-Feb-09 22:34:20

My GP told me not to increase my F&V as it would be 'dangerous' hmm

Well I haven' much for that

This is awful it isn't tummy pain (iykwim) it's bowel pain & I hate it

Littlefish Mon 23-Feb-09 22:38:02

I swing between being constipated and the complete opposite sad, often in the same day!

The trouble is that I'm trying to lose weight, so need to eat more F&V.

Littlefish Mon 23-Feb-09 22:38:43

Do Buscopan or Colofac work for you?

I find Colofac much more effective.

KatyMac Mon 23-Feb-09 22:40:51

I have tended to use diet & Colpermin - I stopped taking medication (as such) about 7 yrs ago

But I may go & get some after this bout - mind you I am sure it is to do with either the Kidney Stones I don't have or the D&V bug I had a week ago

My poor IBS is having a hard time atm

Littlefish Mon 23-Feb-09 22:46:57

I managed without medication for about 3 years, but have had to take a few tablets recently.

I'm under lots of stress at the moment as well.

I've found that aloe vera works really well for me too. Have you ever tried it?

Your D&V bug could definitely have upset your digestion.

KatyMac Mon 23-Feb-09 22:48:10

DH takes aloe vera I am always frightened to try anything new blush in case it set my IBS off hmm

Maybe this is the week to try it

KatyMac Mon 23-Feb-09 22:49:12

Off to bed before my painkillers knock me out

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 24-Feb-09 09:11:08

I hope you managed some sleep last night.

KatyMac Tue 24-Feb-09 09:29:27

Thanks - I slept last night but was up early this morning

BecauseImWorthIt Tue 24-Feb-09 09:32:23

You don't have to eat more fruit to diet.

Have you (either of you) tried cutting down on carbohydrate - or at least cutting down on carbohydrates that come from refined foods such as sugar, bread and pasta? This also includes fruit, btw (not that they're refined!)

Try and get your carbs from vegetables/salad instead.

It has really helped me with my IBS.

KatyMac Tue 24-Feb-09 09:41:07

Actually DH is starting to wonder if this pain is to do with my IBS

The last time it was this bad it was a burst ectopic pregnancy sad

It is like someone stabbing me in my backside

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 24-Feb-09 09:46:18

that sounds awful.

KatyMac Tue 24-Feb-09 10:12:42

Your IBS isn't like that? It's red hot pain tbh

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 24-Feb-09 10:25:20

my ibs tends to be intense cramping.

KatyMac Tue 24-Feb-09 10:32:04

Oh I get cramping too - normally around when I get bad Diarrhoea

But this doesn't seem to connect with D or C

KatyMac Tue 24-Feb-09 13:12:06

With an ouch to add

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 24-Feb-09 13:21:29

What have you tried to alleviate it?

KatyMac Tue 24-Feb-09 13:27:48

Colpermin - which is doing nothing

& co-codamol which is lovely but I do need to work

I'm just being a wuss

cornsilk Tue 24-Feb-09 13:35:11

Sorry to hijack - but where can I buy this aloe vera stuff from?

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 24-Feb-09 13:37:57

I wonder if a hot bath might help just a little. Its hard to concentrate on work if you're in pain.

morningsun Tue 24-Feb-09 13:43:47

is it definitely ibs~watch out for weight loss, chronic diarrhoea, blood or slime in stool, which can then be other things.
