I don't know how much of it I can take. My lovely, lovely, Dad passed away on 6th February and we laid him to rest on Monday.

Now, my poor Mum, who is already in bad health, is very, very, poorly and they may admit her to Intensive Care tonight.

I just want my Mum to be well.

I've had enough.

You poor thing

I dont know what to say but I could'nt let this go unanswered

What seems to be the problem with your mum?

Have you got a friend or relly to talk to?

All I can do is send you the biggest hug I have ever given. We are never sent more then we can handle, even if we think we can't cope. Just know that there are people around you that can help you and support you and that you are not, nor ever will be, alone.

Take care pet, remember that you are not alone through this.

Do you have anybody to support you and share the burden of worrying about your mother?
I hope you will get some good news about her very soon.

Thanks guys. DH is here and has arranged for MIL to have DD tomorrow.

Basically, Mum has been ill since having most of her small intestine removed at the end of August. She has had very bad odema, chronic diahrria (sp ), malnutrition and also has terrible arthritis. As a result she has been in hospital for the past month. She came home for the weekend and was a little forgetful, but we all put it down to stress/grief.

Today she became very vague/confused and they discovered that the oxygen they were giving her to help with a chest infection was actually making her worse. They have diagnosed Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with CO2 retention, which means that whilst her O2 levels are low any effort to use oxygen to raise them also raises her CO2 levels, causing confusion etc.

They've just put her back on the oxygen and will be checking her CO2 levels every hour - if she doesn't improve it'll be intensive care.

My Mum doesn't deserve this, especially not at the moment. She has handled her illness with such good humour and grace (especially considering she's been hospital/house bound for almost six months now).

It's crap, I hate it and I want to hide under my duvet.

sorry you are going through such a hard time and your mum is so unwell. COPD is hard enough without the added complication of the CO2 problems. hope they sort out the CO2 problem soon.
