Hi everyone,
I'm getting myself in a bit of a tizzy about a swollen neck gland that I have had for the last week and a half.

It all started about two weeks ago when I was having sinus headaches, back pain on the right side between my shoulder blade and what once passed for my waist which then progressed to what I think must have been the 'flu...never had it before so think thats what it was (aching all over, skin sore to touch, headache tiredness etc.)

when these symptoms were starting to go away, I noticed a painful pea sized lump just under my hairline on the R side of my neck. Also had tenderness on the bony pard of my skull behind my ears. Had to see the doc about my sinus prob and was started on Doxycycline for this.(Yuck) Doc said that I had quite a few swollen glands in my neck and that this was all coming from the 'flu and sinusitis.

Lump is still in my neck and is particularly painful and more swollen in the mornings if I have been sleeping on that side...I don't want to be neurotic and keep going to the doc so I'm sorry to bore y'all with the ins and outs, I just wanted to know if anyone has ever experienced anything like thid?

Also, it might be just a coincidence but I have also noticed that I've got aching jointd..wrists, elbows, knees and ankle! WHAT'S GOING ON?!!!

as I understand flu, all your joints ache so if you've never had it before, perhaps it's just that.

If you are worried, though, go back to the docs, I'm sure they won't mind.

Does the aching joints thing last for as long as two weeks do you think?

sorry geminigirl - I went to bed!

Yes, flu can last for a fortnight or even more.

I mean proper flu, not a bad cold which is what most people have when they say they have flu.

Dose yourself up on paracetamol and ibuprofen, have a hot drink and go back to bed (if at all possible)

but, as I said earlier, ring the doc if you are still worried.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Geminigirl, I had a swollen lymph node in my neck after a bout of proper flu three years ago, I had blood test done twice, three months after it first appeared, and six months later. Both times the blood tests were all clear. I also felt really tired for quite a while after the flu. I would sleep for three hours sometimes and still be shattered by ten o'clock.

Thanks! I think it's gone down a bit but still a bit swollen in the morning if I have slept on that side. Kingprawn, how long did it take to go down?
