Had colposcopy - called back sooner than expected... very worried

Hi, had my colposcopy in December, was told I would get results in 6 weeks or so and that it was likely I would then get a repeat smear request at the hospital.
Obviously, the results show something and I am scared what it means.
I cannot get in touch with the department as unavailable this afternoon.
My appointment they have given me is in March.
Anyone been through this and what happened to you?

Sorry this is worrrying you.

Slightly confused though, are you worrid because the appointment is for more than six weeks, or because you have already recieved results and are not seeing consultant til March.

sorry, not very clear in your OP

Sorry, trying to do too much at once and worried on top.

I understood my results would be back in 6 weeks (ie. sometime this month - due to Christmas hols etc) and then I would receive an appointment for 6 months afterwards for a smear.
My letter said nothing about any results - just the appointment but nothing outlined as to what would happen - smear / results given etc.

OK, I have had several appointments recently gynae and breast lumps.

In both cases I have been seen in clinic at 3 months to check up, give results - not bad ones(luckily)

I was told while panicky waiting for my appointment that if the results were bad they would have called you back in one to two weeks as consultants are alerted to the bad results when they come through from the labs.

I would think this is a routine f-up and they made check healing etc.

Please try not to worry- I know that is a daft thing to say

I know it's hard not to worry, but you're not going to find out until March. Worrying about it will only make you ill.

I take it you have a family?
Just think that they can't function without you, and carry on.

TBH If they did find something wrong would they really leave it until March to tell you?

Thank you ladies, my dh has gone to work without his phone and I cannot get hold of him to chat to about it.
My mum lost her mum to breast cancer and I just dont want to worry her about it when like you both say, it may just be normal procedure.

Thanks again, you have both made me less panicky.

Deckchair, bearing in mind that it is already the end of January, if you had your colcoscopy at the very end of December you have already waited 4 weeks.
They have given you an appt in March (another 6 or so weeks away) because there is nothing wrong.
If the results had shown something urgent, you would be back there this week.
Honestly.

I agree with norks. It is a routine follow-up, nothing to worry about.
Honestly, my MIL works as an consultant's assistant - she is adament that the lab will always alert the consultant to bad results the minute they find them, and the consultant will get the patient back to him/her within days.
So the fact you have been given an appt for March means there is nothing to worry about.
