as I've decided it's now or never to quit smoking . Main motivation isn't so much 'health' related (although obviosuly that does play a big part) but also just can't AFFORD to keep buying them, usualy only have a few each day - but recently been having more and it's costing me a fortune.

So - need your help and motivation PLEASE

PS - this will also become my diary for recording how it's going.

you forgot to add...that you dh doesnt know you smoke and you nearly had a heart attack when you thought someone was behind the curtain and it was a gollywog!!

good luck, will keep an eye on your thread to see how you are getting on....

...just think...no more having to sneak around,
no more going out in the cold
no more worrying about going to the shop cos you are down to your last fag
no more smelling of fags
etc etc

Good on you, Gwenick! think of something lovely you can save up for - not necessarily frivolous - just something you don't buy, cos you've wanted the money for fags

hunkermunker Tue 05-Apr-05 00:02:35

Good on you, Gwenick. Stock up on things to do with your hands

Remember...when you get a craving...clean your teeth!

lou33 Tue 05-Apr-05 00:53:22

end of an era gwen

Gwenick Tue 05-Apr-05 00:54:18

end of 'another' era you mean LOL

I quit when I was 4 months pg with DS1 - started again when he was 6 months old

quit the day after I found out I was pg with DS2 - started again when he was 5 weeks old

lou33 Tue 05-Apr-05 00:54:53

i gave up fro 12 years once

hunkermunker Tue 05-Apr-05 00:57:18

Cor, Lou - why did you start again?

Actually, the longest I've not smoked for is 12 years...from birth to 12 And it's been seven since I stopped.

lou33 Tue 05-Apr-05 00:58:53

just wanted to, can't think of any other reason really, i can take it or leave it still though, over a year later

hunkermunker Tue 05-Apr-05 01:01:18

I always could too, Lou - I don't think I was ever truly 'addicted' as I gave up very easily too, despite smoking vast forests of the bloody things.

lou33 Tue 05-Apr-05 01:02:54

it's worse of course if i have a drink, but today i didnt have one til 3pm, yesterday 5pm. Can get through loads on a night out though

Gwenick Tue 05-Apr-05 01:03:16

lucky cow! HM

When DH knew I was smoking (he thought I quit last August) he once went to Tesco for me at midnight to buy cigarettes as I was so desperate for one it was driving up the wall (and he always hated me smoking too!)

hunkermunker Tue 05-Apr-05 01:03:26

I used to take 40 on a night out and wonder if it was enough sometimes
