Help ..... Marina coil worries

Hope someone can help me, I had the marina coil fitted after the birth of my daughter. Whom is only 8 months. I have just found out that it has migrated through into my abdomen and made a mess of my uterus. they originally found it missing when it was checked at 6 weeks although it was there at 4 weeks because i could feel the string. It has taken along time to locate it and i am now on a waiting list to see a consultant, my gp informed me the waiting list could be long and it is hoped it does not damage anything........ What should i do... has anyone had this ..and how do they get it out..

How do they know it has migrated into your abdomen? Have you had a scan? If it is in your abdomen it needs to be removed asap. Go back to your GP.

I would push for a quick appointment if it has perforated your uterus and entered your abdominal cavity, it could damage bowel, which would make you very unwell.
please chase it up

There is somebody who has experienced this but I don't remember who or whether they were a regular.

Heres another bump just in case they are around now.

yes had a scan which, revealed nothing really except a mass on my uterus wall,(small) but no coil.... so after a return to the doctors for wasted results and 3 week wait they sent me for an x-ray... and again another wait.. except thit time they told me it was in my abdomen(and the mass was the cause of the damage through migration). why does it need to take so long. you can only get your results from a gp who refers you each time to someone else you wait a decade to get to see your gp taking up a time slot from someone who is achually ill... it's crazy.

Go back to your gp and demand an urgent referral to gynae/GI consultant as norksin says. You should not be walking around with a mirena coil stuck in you abdomen.
