I think I have poisoned myself and possibly my daughter and sister

I used the rest of our left overturkey which I can remember as being on date for at least a few days after Christmas.

I made a supreme style dish with cream , white wine and onions. Ate it about an hour ago, sister and dd had their earlier and I now feel really sick.

DD and sister are out at the moment and I cant get hold of them.

We've only just finished our left over turkey as well.

We had ours cold.

If you've cooked it thoroughly then it should be ok.

Maybe you feel sick for another reason? Or perhaps just overindulgence??

It sounds nice! Sorry, that's not helpful.

If they were ill, they would have let you know by now surely- especially if dd was ill. Is there anything else it could have been?

We're using up last of turkey tonight cold , with leftover veg in a gratin and chips ! If they were ill you'd have heard about it by now .

Would you feel sick that quickly after eating it? Perhaps you ate it to fast and its indigestion...or just overindulgence. FWIW my guts gave up at 2.30 on boxing Day morning. I've ingested about 3 pints of cream in 5 days.

dp says I am ill because I am a glutton who has had too much booy food.

Twinny I think you might be over reacting hun I ate a turkey sandwich at lunch from leftovers and im fine.

I think you might be feeling a bit 'stodged up' emotionally and physically and because you being you look for yourself to be wrong, you are blaming yourself unnecesarily- even if they are sick too it could be entirely unrelated to the turkey.

Im not belittling your worries I just dont think you should assume youre to blame.

I wouldn't eat 5-day old food, nor serve it to anyone.

I'm curious - What does "cooking thoroughly" have anything to do with it?

Report
morningpaper · 29/12/2008 18:55

oh it will be fine

I'll be cooking turkey for WEEKS

jollyoldstnickschick · 29/12/2008 18:56

I am not a medic but I thought food poisoning took longer than just an hour after consumption.
If in date and you cooked it properly, you should all be fine. More likely too much rich food causing a bit of reflux

Don't do it MP we have been told

You get cooked meat on te deli counter though that you can keep for a few days.

It won't be the turkey.Prob. just general overeating eh?
I've got a rib of beef size of a labrador that will be eating for days yet.

I am not sure Shoshe, will see my sister is here and we dont see her very often. I have just had to cancel meeting 5gomad as my sister is here.

Shoshe that is exactly what dp said. His words were
"You have had too much of a good thing and now you are paying the price"

lmao - your sister may well never visit you again if youve poisoned her this visit......

The use by date has nothing to do with it once it's cooked surely.
I have been telling DP that if we don't finish the turkey today it's going in the bin...for the last 2 days...we're still eating it tho'!
I wouldn't ususally eat cooked meat more than 4 days after it was cooked but it seems such a waste to chuck it out...
