Think I may have an ulcer - was told by a doc about 6 years ago that I had the "beginnings of an ulcer", which was then treated with antacids and eventually went away. However, this week I've been feeling really queasy, then was sick a couple of times on Weds. Assumed it was the vomiting bug, but as I've not been sick since but still have a gnawing feeling in my stomach, I'm wondering if it might be an ulcer. I've gone off food completely and have just eaten toast today. Feel pretty rotten and "can't be bothered" as well. Would appreciate any advice thanks. x

BTW def not pregnant, in case anyone suggests that!

you need a blood test to confirm whether you have the bacteria helicobacter pylori, then AB's to get rid of it.

thanks, just wondering if anyone else has had experience of symptoms of an ulcer or similar symptoms caused by virus?

I had exactly the same diagnosis about 9 years ago after an endoscopy, did you have one of those? I now take Omprezole although not regularly, just now and again when it flares up (as it is at the minute!) Took Zantac for a couple of years before that. This current attack has been brought on by the queasy bug which made me not eat for 48 hrs and that's hopeless if you've got this sort of stomach. Ulcers aren't as common nowadays I don't think and the treatment is much more likely to be medication than anything more drastic.
Hope we both feel better soon

crescent - thanks for that. when you say queasy bug is that just what it was - feeling sick but not actually being sick? I felt so queasy that I actually forced myself to be sick so that I felt better, but have felt like I've got something virus-like (hot and cold etc). It sounds like a very similar thing to what you've had. Yes, hope you feel better soon too x
