URGENT....HELP

I NEED YOU GUYS TO GET BACK TO ME ASAP....MY DD1 OF 5 YEARS HAS BEEN POORLY TODAY, FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS, AT 3.30PM I TOOK HER TEMP AND IT WAS 36, JUST DONE IT AGAIN AND ITS 40...COULD BE NORE BUT STRIP ONLY GOES UP TO 40.....WHAT DO I DO?

strip her off, have you given calpol? give it every 4 hrs, alternate with baby nurofen if you have it. is she conscious? happy? otherwise?

Have you given her Calpol or Ibuprofen? We were told if it goes 40 or over you can give both together but just try Calpol first or Calprofen. And yes, ring NHS direct just to be safe.

strip her down to pants, sponge her with tepid water, give her calpol, and plenty of fluid to drink.

Temp strips are not v. accurate, btw, but better than nothing...

Does she have any spots?

SHE IS ILL....REALLY LETHARGIC, RED EYES,COMPLANING OF BED BACK.

HOT TO TOUCH BUT SHE SAYS SHE IS FREEZING.

GIVEN HER NUROFEN ALREADY.

nhs direct will only ring you back after asking questions - do you have an out of hrs gp service?

That is right no. Agree with everyone else, Calpol, strip down, dab her with tepid (NOT COLD) water and take temp again in half an hour.

Oh, she's 5, so I think they're less worried about febrile convulsions at that age (that's what my dr told me when ds had high temp at over 5yo)

LucyKatie-My dd has got this - its a flu virus which is lasting anything up to 2 weeks. DD has had it since last Saturday and is still very poorly. Hope your dd is ok
