How to cheer up dad with shingles - any ideas?

My poor dad has had shingles for 4 weeks now with no sign of improvement on the horizon. GP says it may take 8 weeks sad He is usually very active and positive but he is, understandably, very down in the dumps. We're going to visit tomorrow - anyone got any ideas of things we can take that might cheer him up? He has no appetite and is fed up of TV and reading so the usual foodie treats, DVDs and books aren't going to cut it. TIA

How about some books on cd, or Sudoku books? Or a copy of Top Gear magazine, or Gardeners World mag, whatever he is into.

Thanks, maidamess. Funny you picked those mags - that's exactly what he's into! He's not done Sudoku before so that might be a good challenge.
