Just been prescribed amitriptyline for migraines ...
I was prescribed amitriptline for sleeping tablets a few years ago. I veryrarely take one now if i need to, but it makes me feel very very dozy. I know its used for various things, have you tried them yet? are you supposed to take them every day or just when you feel one coming on?
the only thing is, now, when i take them at night, i still feel rubbish in the morning, mind you, i did get used to them and kept upping my dose until i was tking 100mg a night I had to wean myself off them. hope they work for you
Im much better now, I ended up having a brain scan and they identified another problem which is tackled in another way. So now I dont take any tablets, well only paracetamol or brufen when I have a normal headache.
I really feel for you, I remember just having to come home from wherever I was, work, nights out, whatever. People dont realise how much it controls your life rather than it being 'just a headache'.
TMI alert **** the only thing that worked for me was rectal diclofenac which were amazing because when you have a migraine your stomach shuts down and this was the only way I could kill the pain.
I hope you get on well with the amitryptiline but I know its a long journey to find something that works for you
