Anyone know the max wait for urgent ortho referral please ?

I saw my gp 4 weeks ago with a suspected slipped disk in my neck which is causing immense pain down my right arm.
I am off work and on every painkiller imaginable.
Was referred urgently to ortho comsultant via choos and b**y book-got appt quickly but it was cancelled the day before so back to suare one.
Tried to rebook twice now and both times they cant make appt as computers down !
Worse still the next available appt showing up isnt until Dec.<br /> Am so fed up because i know i need an MRI but gp said only the consultant can refer me and i cant get to see him.<br /> My urgent physio referral is this Fri (4 weeks later ! ) and ive even been to a private physio but he wouldnt touch me when he saw me because i`ve more or less loss the use of my arm.

That is awful Can you ask your gp to phone the consultants secretary and explain how urgent it is? Perhaps then they can bypass the system perhaps? My gp managed to do that once for severe gastro symptoms but that was a long time ago. If not, have you tried phoning the consultants secretary?

Phone your GP and tell them what is happening.

Phone the Consultant's secretary and ask them what can be done to get another urgent appointment.

go back to GP and get him to call the ortho. You can be squeezed in at the next clinic. DH squeezes in urgents all the time
