Have I damaged my eye?

I've just hit my head (inner corner of eyebrow) a real wallop on the corner of a bookcase - OUCH. Unsurprisingly, it's up in a lump but my actual eye is really sore - a little bloodshot, vision normal but feels stingy and sore. Should I be worried? Thx

I'll try an ask DH (eye surgeon) if I can grab him for a second when he gets in from work. If you think you might've scratched the surface of your eye you should def get it checked out

Thanks Franch ... I'm about 90% sure the surface of the eye didn't actually make contact with anything but (sounds funny) feels bruised or shaken. It's not as sore now as it was so hopefully is settling. TIA

Hi Millie, how are you this morning? Couldn't speak to DH till this morning as he didn't get in till after midnight but he says it doesn't sound too serious - however it would be worth checking out just in case. He wouldn't bother wasting your time with your GP, who'll probably just send you to casualty - get yourself along to an eye casualty unit (Moorfields if you're in London) or a general A&E, and in the meantime use a cold compress - the old piece of steak works, or a muslin soaked in cold water held against your eye for 5 mins and again for 5 mins an hour or so later.

HTH - let me know how you get on.

Millie, hope you're OK?

Oh Franch thanks a million for thinking about me and asking your DH. After my 'OMG I'm going to lose my eye' moment last night i've calmed down a bit! It's not bad this morning - bruised and a little bruise on the eye socket which is what's been making it a bit tender. I'm out in the middle of nowhere so a long way from A&E so will just keep an eye for a day or so I think - as I truly think I over-reacted a bit! But thankyou anyway for checking it out on my behalf!
