I've had a virally thing nearly a fortnight, but the symptoms now are very minor.

Started with a razor throat Thursday am.
Friday, razor throat to the extent that it was scratched and I was coughing a little blood. Progressed to retching (will not describe next stage for your sake). Did not eat all day.
Saturday, no improvement and cough very nasty. Still not eating.
Sunday, typical cold. Still not eating much.
Monday, slight snotty nose, tickly cough, appetite back. Stayed pretty much the same since. Annoying, but not really ill.

If you and DH were ill at the weekend and improving now it sounds like a similar timescale, which hopefully will see DS improving by Friday/Saturday and well enough to fly.

I would leave the decision until as late as possible and go down the expensive Plan B route if you have to.

Best of luck, and healing vibes to DS

can you bump up his immune system with all kinds of vitamins and herbal/homoeopathic remedies??

Fingers crossed that the worst will be over by the weekend and DS will be fit to fly.

We have had the sore throat thingy and that took 5 days to pass.

Fill DS2 full of vitamins and other immune boosting stuff too. Just to be safe.

Sympathies. We had to change our flight to Chicago by one day as DS had a horrible case of croup the night before we were supposed to leave in the early AM, and none of us got any sleep. That was EXPENSIVE. Here's hoping you don't have to do the same.

Dead duck with Pokemon cards is definitely an improvement on your bog standard Dead Duck
