Scan tomorrow for possible Fibroids

What was the treatment?

I have VERY heavy periods and this is one of the things that could be causing it. Has anyone had a vaginal scan?

I had a vaginal scan and the person doing it (sonographer?) was very considerate amd gentle, there was no discomfort at all. Sorry I can't advise on fibroids, as my scan was for a cyst.

No they didn't, they put some of that jelly stuff on it I think, I wasn't watching too closely, tbh. The probe thing they use is quite narrow, it's not at all uncomfortable.

ditto Subrosa's experience - thin 'wand', KY jelly stuff and a gentle sonographer.

My scan was for fibroids - the sonographer explained what she could see. Despite a 'lumpy uterus' and pretty heavy periods, I only had 2, small, fibroids which were not thought serious enough to remove. So it's not a forgone conclusion at all that you'll be facing more procedures.

I had one of these for fibroids too. The normal scan was far worse than the vaginal one because I needed a full bladder and that was agony! I was allowed a pee before they proceeded to do the internal one thank goodness, and that was extremely straight forward, absolutely pain free, and very quick. By far the worst bit was the full bladder discomfort. So don't worry...it will be a doddle. Let us know how you get on.

Well i'm back.



No sign of anything - Fibroids / Cysts etc. so that's a relief (probably a hormonal problem they think).

Thankyou very much i didn't realise how worked up i was getting about it all. Knowing what you told me helped me to be prepared and it wasn't as bad as i thought. I had both types of scans and yes, the bladder issue was definitely the worst!!!

Thats great news. I had to have a hysterectomy after mine (all recovered now though!) so glad you are ok.
