Will my 120 sit ups a day help me get my pre-pregnancy figure back, or am I wasting my time?

I was wondering if theres anyone whos as obsessed as me with being the person they were before having a baby aswell as a new mummy. I am loving being a mum although I get down very often, but I also want to be "me" aswell. Anyone get me or am I sounding ridiculous?!

Do you mean you just want to look the same way you did before, or is it more about getting some time to yourself?

You don't sound ridiculous, I was abit paranoid about getting my shape back after pregnancy, its 5 years ago now, but I became a bit manic with the sit ups. Can't be bothered now, too past it to care. By the way, when doing sit ups don't forget to hold in your stomach.

No, I was the same and situps as well as swimming helped me. Still took me nearly 4 months to get my pre/pregnancy stomach back, but I am sure it helped. I did 50 every morning (when I remembered).

Well my 120 sit ups a day hasn't helped me get my pre pregnancy figure back..... perhaps doing them instead of imagining I do might help!

The problem with getting back your figure once you've had children is that once you've had children there are a million other things to be done and by the time you have some time to yourself, you're just too knackered!

There was a situps thread a while ago (try the archive) and the wisdom seemed to be: Pilates not situps. I consulted my SIL's personal trainer (the current Mr Universe or something!) and he agreed. HTH - I got pg again when DD was 10 months so gave myself the ideal excuse to quit

to anyone who has regain their pre-pregnancy stomach. I am lighter than when I became pg with DS1 but any excess weight I have seems to have become lodged in my tummy, the skin on my stomach is finished and any weight I do lose from the tummy area leaves a flap of puckered skin, nice.

Thank you everyone for making me feel normal!
My son is 4 months now. I want to look the same way I did before aswell as feeling like me! I am very lucky as I manage to get him down to sleep between 5-6pm so I get a chance to do sit ups in the evening, but yes it is hard to get the energy after spending all day, washing clothes, changing nappies and feeding and playing with the baby! Can anyone give me any advice on Pilates as I've heard its the best thing at the moment, but know absolutely nothing about it!

Bethron, did you go to belly dancing classes or do a video? I am looking for a belly dancing video as I have a friend that went to classes and she said it was great and she felt a lot more toned.
