Sprained ankle - how long to recover?

I sprained my ankle three weeks ago. I can walk and drive okay, but it's still tender and a bit swollen. Do I need to go to the GP? I'm slightly concerned because I sprained my ankle quite badly ten years ago, and had to have physio - but I can't remember what it was that made it bad, iykwim.

Depends - mine took 10 weeks of physio to get right last year previous occurrences took at least 6 to feel anywhere near normal. I went to gp 4 weeks after I did it with an ankle still very puffy, bruised and very limited movement but she wouldn't refer me on NHS, only did when I later said I had private cover hmm
