Has anyone got any experience of Trigger Thumb

My 2yr old daughter hurt her thumb last week and we ended up in casualty with a suspected dislocated thumb. After 3 doctors could not fix it they decided that she must have already had a condition called trigger thumb and that she would need an operation to correct it.
I'm not convinced as I am sure my partner or I would have noticed that she could not straighten her thumb properly or felt the lump in her thumb that they are telling me she must always have had. I'm sure it must have been caused by her hurting her thumb. Has anyone had experience of trigger thumb ? Can it be caused by an injury ? And more importantly whats the operation like to fix it, does it take long to recover and is it a success ?
