Easy gag reflex in 9 month old after tummy bug

Ds2 had a tummy bug at the weekend, and it's been fine for a few days now, and we've gradually reintroduced everything - on full dairy etc, fine.

I gave him some pasta and pasta sauce for tea tonight - bit daring as it's quite garlicky and strong, but previously he's loved it. Second it touched his lips, he gagged and then threw up everywhere.

Now, bearing in mind he's been very refluxy anyway (had started to slow down in the last week or two before the bug... sigh) and there is NO WAY any of that was swallowed to actually hit his stomach (the gag was there within milliseconds of it touching his tongue) - do you think it was just the smell/taste that reminded him of being sick so it was a reflex - or does that indicate the tummy bug is still there?

He ate 2 baby yoghurts quite happily afterwards [rolls eyes in exasperation] with no further sick incidents. Nappies are fine at the moment.

Sorry Casmie not really any advice. Olny that maybe something without such a strong aroma to it might help for now? I've no experiance though i can imagine how stressful it is.

Hmm... well we seem to be back to our normal levels of "possetting" (i.e. pre the last few week's slow down) - which is bloody annoying as now he's mega mobile and I'm forever finding patches all over the bloody place

Poor mite.

Seems perfectly on top form though... cheery, mobile. In fact, back to my usual gorgeous active giggly baby that I had before the tummy bug.

Has anyone else with a refluxy baby noticed that after a tummy bug things were a bit more "loose" for a while after? [insert desperate look emoticon here]

While I wouldn't wish it on anyone, I'm rather relieved I'm not the only one, if you know what I mean!

Mind you, I may have got off lightly. According to my mother I did a great line in regularly projectile vomiting for no apparent reason...
