Lump on arm, ultrasound on wednesday, feckin petrified

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 11/08/2008 23:10

so i have a lump on my upper arm, just under the skin, about the size of a pea. feels hard to the touch and a bit tender at times.

doctor thinks it's a lipoma (fatty lump?) but has referred me for an ultrasound on wed, so now of course I'm going nuts wondering what else it might be. pregnancy hormones not helping with the anxiety!

anyone got any useful/reassuring info/experiences/advice?

TIA

!!
I look at the website every so often and dream. I really want to go there before my dcs get too old to appreciate it.

It's very lovely - really nicely done, and I went into TooTicky's bathhouse! DS fell in love with the Snork Maiden, because she gave him a cuddle.

also spent half our life savings in the Moomin shop....the Euro exchange rate is not kind.

Yes, it really is lovely, I highly recommend it. This year they're focusing on The Exploits of Moominpappa, and they had his boat and his submarine and all sorts of things, and all the children can climb over and into everything, and open all the cupboards in the Moominhouse, and try on his hat.

The Groke was fab, too.

And you've completely distracted me from my arm, too!

It sounds fabulous.

We went to Astrid Lindgren world in Sweden a few years ago - have you been there? Do you like Astrid Lindgren? That was a lovely place, very child-friendly.

My dcs would love the boats! We went to a wee boat museum recently and could have stayed there for hours - such simple things, like a boat they could climb in, a ship's wheel to turn, a pulley system to try out....

Sorry TooTicky, wasn't ignoring you, my sis has been staying which means I've had about five minutes spare to get on MN, and wanted to bump the thread in case anyone had any reassuring words for me!

Haven't been to Astrid Lindgren land - not such a huge fan really, it's the Moomins all the way for me.

I saw from the other thread that you used to live in Bristol, where do you live now? We're still in lovely rainy Bristol....

So ultrasound at 3pm today, crossing my fingers it's all fine but feeling quite nervous. Anyone else out there got any thoughts on my OP?

hi, just wanted to say good luck with your scan this afternoon. I've posted on here about something similar with my ds. He is due to have an ultrasound in the next few weeks.

Hope all goes well.

Tracey.

Thank you kaylasmum, I've seen your thread although never posted - I have similar anxiety problems although not as severe, and being pg isn't helping with the anxiety either!

Really hoping they can tell me today what the score is rather than making me wait for results, but I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up.

Don't know if it helps, but I've got 3 lipomas (all bar one started in pregnancy) and they are exactly as you descibe yours, try not to worry too much.

(This from the woman who has such bad health anxiety, I currently think the dry patch on my lip could be cancer, )

That's very reassuring WhereTheWildThingsAre - also because I found the last one when I was pregnant last time round.

You know how it is when the doctor says it's nothing but 'let's have a proper look at it just in case' you never know if they mean it really is nothing, or whether they're trying not to alarm you!

Paranoid, moi?

p.s. Where the Wild Things Are is a top favourite bedtime read for us!

My friend who's a doctor says fatty lumps are very common and highly unlikely to be sinister. I have one on my thigh.
Don't worry and good luck.

Just checking to see how your scan went and if you got your results. Hope everyrhing is ok.

Thanks kaylasmum and others - scan went fine, the radiographer said she thinks it's almost certainly just a lipoma but i have to wait for the official results from the consultant. should be with my GP in about 10 days.

I figured she wouldn't say that unless she was pretty sure, though, would she?

Hope so on the sleep front - am coming down with a cold so have ms and the chills and am lying on the sofa feeling sorry for myself.

I sound like a complete hypochondriac, don't I! Honestly, most of the time I'm very rarely ill.
