Have taken the Canesten capsule and used the cream but am hopping round the house in serious discomfort, feel like I'm on fire! Anyone got any good tips for remedies?!

Natural yoghurt mixed with a bit of lavender oil. It will feel v cold and weird but should soothe it fairly instantly.

Daft question but what do you do with the yogurt?! I'm guessing it goes up inside... tampon?!

Yes you could put it on a tampon; otherwise just smear it around!

tea tree is fab - a couple of drops on a tampon, put some in the bath and soak, mix some with oil (almond, olive, or whatever) and apply to sore bits. Poor you, thrush is so miserable xxxxx

another vote for yoghurt
get on your bed with a towel underneath you lather it on watch telly
stay still for a couple of hours and you should be fine.

Warm bath with a good handful of salt in it. Sounds like it ought to sting like buggery (not that I know if buggery stings from experience but it sounds like it would probably smart at least) but doesn't. Pat dry very gently and relax

jojo76 · 12/08/2008 21:25

you would think so (like buggery lol) but it doesn't, no.

Well I tried the tea tree oil and it REALLY stung! Possibly used a bit too much in my desperation!!
Had to do a second application of yogurt to take away the sting of the tea tree!
ARGHHHHH!!

Natural yoghurt fresh from the fridge.

And keep your canesten cream in the fridge too.

yoghurt.

DO NOT apply neat tea tree oil to any part of your anatomy.

OMG sorry it stung, did you dilute with oil at all? I've never had problems with stinging when using on a tampon, but maybe I have particularly insensitive bits!!
You poor thing, are you still suffering then?

I didn't dilute it (only after I checked on internet and it said tea tree is ok to use neat - but maybe it meant only on external skin, not internally!!). Tried again last night diluted with olive oil and it seems to have worked a treat, much better this morning

brilliant thank goodness!! I must admit ive used it neat both on a tampon and externally, with out much bother, but I know id read to dilute if you are using it externally. It always works for me. Im gladd its worked, there's nothing worse than thrush!!!
