DD is suffering with constipation atm...prob fro about 2 weeks which coincides with when I started her on the above vitamins (she is not a big fruit/veg lover and had sores on the corners of her mouth which we assumed were due to lack of vitamins iykwim)

well the last 2 weeks she is poo'ing around every 2/3 days and atm hasn't gone in 5 days sad.

Im wondering..........could the above vitamins have this effect..? Can you "overdoes" on vitamins iylwim..?

BTW dd is 3.

if there is iron in the vitamins then yes, try her with some lactulose, very gentle, and perfectly safe for children

you can overdose on some fat soluable vits like E and D if you take high doese for a long time but in bassetts ones, highly unlikely as personally, I don't like them and vitamin level wise are not much use. sores on the mouth can be due to Vit c deficiency (vit c is water soluable so you need to replenish each day). but also depends on what her diet was like before. some sores on the mouth can be an indication of candida. look in her mouth to see if you can see any white spots and darker red spots, severe gum probs/redness and check her 'bits' for redness and sores. why I say this is candida can cause constipation too and when she does poo, can make her anus red and sore and hurt.

ah right, so bassetts should be ok..hmmm..just trying to see whats changed iykwim...

Thrush/candida...............not noticed anything in her mouth BUT she does say her bottom is sore esp when we wipe iykwim..sad.

She has eventually gone tonight...so sad to witness as she was crying sad. Ended up going x3 !!!! shock.

Will try prunes tomorrow...got some yesterday but not tried yet.

Thanks everyone x

shhh, as a herbalist, I don't like supps for kids unless it is necessary, but if you have to or think your child will benefit then this is what my son has;

http://www.naturesplus.com/products/category.asp?cryteria=category&category=12&productNumber =29955

it has a much lower level of Vit A in it as kids should not be given too much of this as it can build up in the liver quite quickly. but if you have a look at this, have a look at the whole animal parade line up, some really good products there.

Thanks misi. I have never given dd suppliments BUT due to the sores in the corner of her mouth (like little cuts iykwim in the corners) I guess a scurvy type thing as I know she is a nightmare with fruit and veg.

Not sure I will continue now....I guess she is like most toddlers and her diet is as blanced as it can be...

I will look at your link though smile
