I bought some Arnica tablets to help with bruising etc after childbirth. When should I start to take them? How long afterwards? and How many per day? I would appreciate your advice, thanks.

I'm not convinced they'll do anything at all. DD once took an entire bottle of homeopathic pills and doctor said 'forget about it, it won't have had any effect'.

Oh well seeing as I have already bought them I'd better put them to good use. Doctors would say that though most have no faith in homeopathy

you deffo not need to take a whole bottle in quick succession, that could potentially make it worse.

usually 3-4 tablets in approx 24 hours, ie 1 in approx every 8 hrs.

Repeat every week or so - or as needed. This is how my homeopath recommends.

I took them from about a week before my due date, took 4 a day.
Then after the birth, take 1 every 4 hours for a few days.
then back to 4 times a day for a few weeks, or until bruising is gone.

Arnica is herbal, not homeopathic. I haven't used the tablets, but the cream is fabulous for reducing swelling and pain, and accelerating healing.

I just googled arnica tablets childbirth and there are at least two mumsnet threads on the topic, but Hamblys says "Take one Arnica tablet every three hours during labour and one per day for four days after. This helps reduce bruising and soreness. "

arnica can come in both herbal and homeopathic forms.
for example Vogel arnica gel is herbal and normally used for arthritis etc.
The cream and tablets that most people are familar with are homeopathic
