Well, as above really. DS1 (22 months) has got Chicken pox, first 'spot' came on Weds, but more are still appearing today.

A couple of questions

  1. How long should I keep him away from nursery, one website says 5 days, but is that five days from when?

  2. I also have a 3 week old DS, what shall I look out for in him, Should I be worried about him. Shows no illness signs yet?

    Thanks in advance

Five days from last spot appearing, I think. Or until all spots crusted over.

Incubation is 11-21 days. Your DS1 will have been infectious from (approx) Monday and will probably be infectious for (say) another week. So if your DS2 does get it from DS1 it could happen any time between 1 and 23 August.

they are contagious from 1-2 days before the spots appear and until the spots crust over which is about 5-7 days from when they first appear. My dd (4.8 years) had them and passed them to ds when he was 6 months old - it was about 14 days until he started getting the spots. He was a lot better with them than dd who was a right drama queen - bless her!!

Chicken pox

It does say to contact your gp if a child under 4 weeks has been exposed to chicken pox so might be best to contact them when you can.
