My son (nearly 4) has been put on this twice daily for his SVT. Don't know anyone who's child is on this medication and would welcome you getting in touch if you know about it, re side effects etc
Thanks!

Yes, my daughter who is 7 has been on it for about 8 months for wolff-parkinsonn white syndrome (where her heart would beat so fast she would faint/fit. Very scary as I'm sure you'll know!).

She is also on a tablet twice daily and so far she has been great, almost no problems since starting it.
We haven't noticed any side effects either.

brilliant, thanks so much Shrooms, I really appreciate your post as I just can't find ANYONE who's child is on this drug, and it's reassuring your little girl is doing so well on it! My son seems to have had some vision disturbances but we're getting that looked at, but apart from that so far so good.
Sorry to hear your little girl has Wolff-Parkinsson White- they tested my son for that but they're pretty sure it's just SVT but yes, it's so scary when they're heart beats so fast and can't be slowed down! Has the Flecainide prevented your daughter having episodes completely?
Thanks again and all the best

hello, i have a nearly 8 year old daughter who is on flecainide syrup, she was diagnosed at 4years old with SVT's it so frightening at first when her heart went very fast we had to get the ambulance out a few times and also spent a lot of time in hospital. My daughter had various drugs to control it and then she was put onto flecainide, about 2 years ago, the only side effects i have noticed is thinning of her hair and she gets tired easily, and her appetitite is not good either, she still get episodes of svt's so we are been referred to leeds hospital to see the heart specialist .

thanks fairycakes- yes, we've noticed our DS seems more tired and less appetite. He's also had some episodes since, but they seem quicker to get back to normal than before. I've got a feeling they might up his dose next visit. Your daughter is the same age as our DS, so interesting to hear your experience. Please do keep in touch!
