Does anyone know about eyes?

We went to a BBQ yesterday and loads of smoke got in DH's eyes. Since then they have been bloodshot and itchy - although are slowly geting better.

I suggested to DH that Optrex might help, but he then asked if it would help a bump in his eye.

He said it had been there for about 3 weeks. It's on the edge of his iris and white. It's a tiny raised bump with a little white head and lots of blood vessels going to it.

I reminds me of a spot on the skin (without the redness but with blood vessels instead)

I wonderd if he could have got something in his eye that hasscratched the lens. My dad had that problem because he worked with small metal filings.

It doesnt hurt or affect his sight, but since showing it to me and me saying it's not sleep he is getting a bit concerned.

He's off to the doctor tomorrow, just wondered if anyone had any ideas???

No this is the first 'thing' he has ever had on his eyes. Could it be an ulcer forming?

I think that he could probably do with going to A&E in case he's got some hot ash in it and burnt it/ has something imbedded in it. A GP doesn't have access to the same diagnostic equiptment that they have in A&E, he might have to wait a while but at least they can have a proper look and refer him to the eye clinic if that's what he needs.

Thanks avenanap, but he said the bump has been there for about 3 weeks and it's just his eye has been irriated by the smoke that he mentioned the bump.

FWIW the BBQ was a corporate one with professional BBQers with non-coal grills so no issue there.

It's most probably a papilloma .. a benign lump that can be caused by a virus like a wart

best to get it checked though

Awww sounds painful, could be somethig stuck in the eye and then has become inflammed and infected.

DP has had many a metal filing in his eye due to his work. Down to A&E he goes and they get it out with a needle. It happened a few days after having DD....it was the same doctor that stitched me up....and she recognised him!

Let us know how he gets on.

Hi All,

In typical 'man-style' the next morning Dh woke up and his eyes were more recovered from the smoke and no long bloodshot. The bump is still there but much less pronounced and no head, so he is being a baby not going to the doctors unless it makes get big again

Thanks for you help though.
